So with such a popular song, and such a famous rock group, what better way to celebrate all of Queen’s songs than to make a musical?  Well that is exactly what Ben Elton, one of Britain’s favorite comedians and author, Queen Members Brian May and Roger Taylor did; they wrote the musical!

The musical is a futuristic story which tells the tale of a massive corporation, Globalsoft, which sends computer generated music to all of the people on the planet. Singing, musical instruments, and any expression of creativity, are banned. But Lost Texts are known to exist which talk of music from years gone by. A group of rebels (the Bohemians) strive to discover the lost music, and bring down the corporation. The two heroes, Galileo and Scaramouche, discover musical instruments buried in rock, which they use to vaporize the head of the corporation (The Killer Queen), and send the Power of Rock around the world to free the masses, enabling them to be musically creative once again.

With the musical incorporating all of Queens songs, such as Radio Ga Ga, I want to Break Free, A Kind of Magic, We are the champions Bohemian Rhapsody and of course We Will Rock You;  it is no wonder it has been such a huge success.

The musical opened in London’s Dominion Theatre in 2002, so it is now currently celebrating its 10th anniversary.  Although the musical wasn’t such a hit among critics, it was an audience favorite, and has since been played to packed houses around the world, and has become the longest-running musical at the Dominion Theatre.

A number of international productions have followed the original, and We Will Rock You has been seen in Ireland, Australia, Canada, Russia, Spain, Japan, South Africa, Zürich, Vienna, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. As of July 2009, productions are still active in Great Britain, Italy and Germany. The Dutch production premiered at the end of summer 2010 and the Swedish production in autumn 2010.

There have been 2 UK national tours of We Will Rock You, in 2009 and 2010, which also ran alongside the musical in London, so this really gave everyone a chance to see such a fantastic show with offering cheap theatre tickets.

The show is located at the grade II listed building, Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road.  It is one of London’s larger theatres that hold approximately 2000 seats.  There is a large foyer area, and the seating is spilt over 2 levels, the Stalls and Circle. There are disabled access seating and facilities and air conditioning for all.

The closest tube station is Tottenham Court Road and is easy to get to by bus.  If you are in the area of Oxford Street it is a short walk, so no need to cut short your shopping experience!

If you are a theatergoer or a visitor to the city, it is such a wonderful uplifting show to see. So take your friends, partners, children to see We Will Rock You, and you will not be disappointed!

France is an extremely popular skiing destination. Thanks to its relative closeness to the UK, it offers good value skiing and some of the world’s premier slopes. Two particularly excellent ski resorts are Chamonix and Val d’Isère.
